DETAILS can be found at www.ashfordinvasiveplants.org

REPLY TO: ashfordinvasiveplants@gmail.com if you know you’re interested.  We have lots of space!

These sessions are designed for anyone interested in improving local ecosystems through practical, science-based approaches to invasive plant management.  You will be learning about how to repair a riparian corridor that has rebounded after three centuries of industrial and town center use.

The workshops will be in person and outdoors at

Pompey Hollow Park 25 Tremko Lane in Ashford CT.

JUNE 13, 10-12

JULY 18, 10-12

There will be a walk on a handicap-accessible trail to identify invasive plants, discuss management strategies, followed by a hands-on management demonstration and opportunity for practice. Participants will learn how to recognize invasive plants in the field, understand their ecological impacts, and observe management techniques. Plenty of parking is available in Pompey Hollow Park near the Ashford Senior Center. (Please respect reserved parking adjacent to the Senior Housing in Pompey Hollow.) Educational material and water will be provided.

Plants highlighted include Japanese knotweed, garlic mustard, mugwort, autumn olive, bittersweet, bush honeysuckle and others. For the hands-on component of the workshops, there will be a limited number of work gloves and loppers available. Please bring your own work gloves and loppers/pruners if available to you.  Sturdy shoes and long pants are recommended.  AIPWG leaders will assist with cut stump herbicide applications where appropriate.

**This LOCATION will also be featured in an educational walk (no hands on work that day) sponsored by the Natchaug Healthy Watershed Riparian Working Group in the end of June (Saturday June 13, 10-12).**  SEE FLYER➡️
